BG Remove is a browser extension that removes backgrounds from images on webpages. It processes images locally in your browser. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data.

What data we collect

We do not collect any personal information. Specifically:

No account, email, or identifiers are required.
No images or processing results are uploaded to any server.
No analytics, tracking pixels, or third‑party ads are used.

Local processing

All background removal happens on your device, in your browser. The extension uses your page content only when you choose to run it, to generate a transparent PNG for download. Nothing leaves your computer.

Permissions we use and why

activeTab: Run on the page you choose when you click the extension.
scripting: Inject the content script on demand when you start a selection or use the context menu.
contextMenus: Show “Remove background” items on right‑click.
downloads: Save the processed PNG to your computer.
storage: Remember your preferences (e.g., threshold, softer edges) locally.

We do not request broad site access. The extension runs only when you use it.

Data retention

We do not retain any personal data. User preferences are stored locally in your browser and can be reset at any time in the extension popup.

Children’s privacy

This extension is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information from children.
